Overview

In a 2011 report within The Economist Intelligence Unit, Professor John Kasarda of the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler business school argues that airports are set to shape urban development in the decades to come by pointing to a shift in many places where airports no longer simply serve the city.

The Government’s ‘Future of Air Transport’ White Paper, published in 2003, identifies Stansted Airport as having potential for growth in the future.

In 2010, just over 18.5 million passengers used Stansted and BAA have anticipated that this number is set to increase to 35 million per annum by 2015.

The village of Stansted and the airport are accessible by road from Junction 8 of the M11 Motorway and by train from London’s Liverpool Street Station. The journey takes only 45 minutes on the Stansted Express.

With global population and air passenger number increases, multi million pound investments in the area and identification at both a regional and governmental level of the future growth surrounding the Stansted area.
